  • Tour de Chesapeake - May 16, 17 & 18, 2008 - Come celebrate the arrival of spring with a bike tour through the wonderful, scenic and flat Mathews County back-roads along the Chesapeake Bay. Mark Saturday, May 17th on your calendar now and join a thousand other riders on the Tour de Chesapeake VIII. This tour is perfect as a family’s first biking adventure, or maybe the intermediate rider’s, and even the experienced veteran’s, season warm-up. Cyclists can choose tours of 17, 40, 60 and 80 miles in length.  For more information go to Tour de Chesapeake - 2008.

  • Mountains Of Misery & Wilderness Road Ride - This Double Header takes place every year on Memorial Day weekend (last weekend in May).  Two different rides explore different parts of Southwest Virginia's beautiful New River Valley.  The Wilderness Road Ride is on Saturday, May 24th.  Location just down the road from the Dedmon Center in Radford - start time 7 am, 'Show & Go'.  The Mountains of Misery is on Sunday, May 25th.  It features a century and double metric century ride.    Start at the Newport Recreation Center, first wave departs at 7 am.

  • Town of Pulaski - Saturday, June 7th.  The Town is celebrating the opening of the NR Trail Extension.  This project  connects the NR Trail to Heritage Park, Cool Springs and the Train Station in Downtown Pulaski.  It will start with an event road ride departing the Train Station to Gatewood Park at 8:00 am.  Other events include; Fishing Tournament at Gatewood Park, 5K Race, Walk/Fun Run, Bicycle Inspection and Basic Repair & a Bicycle Rodeo at Cool Springs on Dora Hwy at 10:00 am.  Keynote speaker for the dedication is Congressman Rick Boucher who will officially open the extension with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 11:00 after which a free hotdog luncheon will be served and a short inauguration ride on the extension and the NR Trail.  Watch for additional information as they unfold.
